Preventing Osteoarthritis degenerative joint disease
through Ayurveda
It is a degenerative joint disease leading to deterioration of joints including articular cartilage and bone. It is a condition in which the cartilage that acts as a cushion between bones in joints degenerates and thereby causes pain and inflammation in the joints. Knee, Hands, Fingers and Big toe are the mostly affected joints. Symptoms can vary from pain to loss of mobility.

Primary Osteoarthritis (OA) :
As age advances the cartilage in the joints
get degenerated and the breakdown products from the cartilage are released into
the synovial space, and the cells lining the joints attempt to remove them and
new bony outgrowths called spurs or osteophytes form on the margin of the
joints.
Secondary Osteoarthritis (OA) :
Caused by other factors such as diabetes,
injury to joints, infection of joints, and inflammatory diseas
Signs and Symptoms:
Pain, stiffness, tenderness, limited
movement of joints, inflammation.
Treatment:
Osteoarthritis Ayurvedic treatments
focus on arresting the progression of the disease and thereby improving
functions of joints and alleviating the pain which includes both internal
medication and external treatments.
